About

Sarah Goffney (she/her) attended Tyler School of Art, Temple University, with a focus in photography and certificate in screen studies. At the moment she describes herself as a multidisciplinary artist. She primarily alternates between ceramics and painting while trying to find the overlap between both.

Her work is a personal exploration of the complexities of growing up, particularly in the context of change, loneliness and relationships. She focuses the struggle to find connection and meaning in a world that can often feel isolating and overwhelming. Through her art, she confronts the harsh realities of growing apart using her own experiences from past friend and romantic encounters, the often-painful process of online dating, and the toll that mental health challenges can take on one's sense of self.

Her self-portraits and journalistic entries serve as a kind of visual diary, capturing moments of vulnerability and reflection of trauma. By sharing these intimate glimpses into her own life, she hopes to create a space for others to connect with their own experiences, to feel seen and understood, and to find comfort and solace in the knowledge that they are not alone.

Through these images, she seeks to capture the raw and unfiltered experience of grappling with the weight and fear of changing and how a romanticized time in our life is actually just as messy as any other. She believes that by exploring the struggles and complexities of your late to mid-twenties others gain a better understanding of themselves, and hopefully a way for her to connect back to herself and let her know it'll all work out.

Currently, she is selling in local art markets under Sarah Goffney Studio around Philadelphia. When she’s not selling or creating art, you can find her on the rugby pitch somewhere between Philadelphia, PA and Dublin, Ireland.
